The Fallout franchise is a critically acclaimed series of post-apocalyptic role-playing games known for their open-world exploration, deep storytelling, and dark humor. The series is set in an alternate future where a retro-futuristic society, inspired by 1950s Americana, was devastated by nuclear war in the year 2077. Players navigate the wasteland as survivors, scavengers, or heroes, encountering factions, mutants, and remnants of pre-war civilization. The series began in 1997 with Fallout, developed by Interplay Entertainment. Bethesda Game Studios acquired the franchise and transformed it into a 3D open-world experience with Fallout 3 in 2008, set in the ruins of Washington, D.C. Known for its rich lore, moral choices, and unique blend of satire and survival, the Fallout franchise remains a cornerstone of RPG gaming, continuing to evolve through expansions, fan mods, and adaptations like the Fallout TV series by Amazon.
